Four art elements installed in downtown Vancouver sidewalks unexpectedly reveal the systems at work under the city’s surface. The pieces allow for the intermittent release of steam from an existing underground heating system and connect to the city’s street lighting infrastructure allowing for their illumination at night. Surface text refers to the interrelationship between above and below ground city networks. (This project was done as a collaboration with Susan Ockwell).
