Six stainless steel shafts rise dynamically from out of the ground on a south facing grassy knoll that forms a public garden on the Cascina/Denia residential property in Coal Harbour, Vancouver. The elements are inspired by the exploration devices used to search (unsuccessfully) for coal on the site in the mid 19th century. The glass and metal shafts act as periscopes and telescopes through which a viewer can see an unexpected collage of reflected and actual views of elements of the past, present and future of the site.
